This policy explains how OpticMerge Eyewear handles personal information when you browse our store, purchase products, contact us or subscribe to our communications.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Registered office: 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ.

GFL ENTERPRISE LTD is responsible for the personal information it processes for its retail business. For privacy enquiries or rights requests, email help@opticmerge.com and use “Privacy request” in the subject line.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:

  • Contact information, including your name, email address and telephone number where provided.

  • Billing and delivery addresses.

  • Order information, including products, selected options, amounts, transaction references, payment status, shipment updates, returns and refunds.

  • Messages and information supplied during customer service enquiries.

  • Customer account information and communication preferences where those features are used.

  • Technical information, including device and browser details, network identifiers, security events and information needed to operate the website.

  • Information collected through optional analytics or advertising technologies, subject to applicable consent requirements.

Payment information is processed through the payment services available at checkout. Please do not email complete card numbers, security codes or account passwords.

Avoid sending sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry. We do not use your product selections to diagnose conditions or provide personalised clinical advice.

3. How we use information

We process information for the following purposes:

Order fulfilment: to receive orders, arrange payment, prepare goods, organise delivery and provide related support. Our usual legal basis is performing a contract or taking steps at your request before entering into one.

Legal obligations: to retain required accounting records, handle consumer rights and respond to lawful requests.

Business security and administration: to prevent fraud, investigate disputes, maintain systems and resolve complaints. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the impact on your rights and freedoms.

Marketing: to send optional communications where valid consent or another applicable permission allows this. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Optional website technologies: to use analytics, advertising or preference technologies in accordance with applicable consent requirements.

4. Sharing information

We share information as needed with organisations supporting our business, including:

  • Shopify, our ecommerce platform.

  • Payment service providers.

  • Fulfilment and delivery partners.

  • Customer support and technical service providers.

  • Professional advisers.

  • Authorities where disclosure is legally required.

These organisations may act as service providers processing information on our behalf or independently determine how information is used for particular services.

We do not publish customer order details or sell our mailing list to unrelated retailers.

Shopify and payment providers maintain their own privacy information for activities they undertake for their own purposes. Shopify’s privacy information is available at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.

External services you choose to visit, including tracking websites, apply their own privacy notices.

5. International processing

Our ecommerce, support and fulfilment providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or your country of residence.

Where UK data protection rules require safeguards for an international transfer, we use an applicable mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The store uses technologies necessary for functions such as maintaining a shopping session, supporting checkout and protecting security.

Optional analytics, advertising and other non-essential technologies are subject to applicable consent requirements. Where a privacy preferences control is available, you can use it to review or change your choices.

Continuing to browse is not, by itself, treated as consent where affirmative consent is required.

You can also manage cookies through your browser, although blocking necessary technologies may affect store functionality.

7. Retention

We retain information only for the purposes described in this policy and applicable legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements.

Order and transaction records may be retained for up to six years after the relevant financial period where needed for those requirements. Information may be retained longer when necessary for an unresolved dispute or another applicable legal obligation.

Customer enquiries are retained for a reasonable period needed to address the issue and related complaints. Marketing preferences are retained while relevant, and a minimal suppression record may be kept to respect an unsubscribe request.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, and to object to certain processing.

Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal.

Rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity and will respond within the applicable legal timeframe.

Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or contact us to stop marketing. Necessary order and service messages may still be sent.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls and the security features of our ecommerce platform.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. Contact us promptly if you believe information connected with your order has been misused.

10. Children

Purchases and marketing subscriptions are intended for adults capable of entering into a purchase contract. An adult should place orders for children’s products.

We do not intentionally collect children’s information for direct marketing.

11. Complaints and policy changes

Contact help@opticmerge.com if you have a privacy concern. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or another competent supervisory authority.

We update this policy when our practices change and display the revision date above. Material changes will be communicated where required.
