This notice explains how OpticMerge handles personal information when you browse our store, place an order, contact us or choose to receive our emails.
1. Who is responsible
OpticMerge Eyewear is a trading name of GFL ENTERPRISE LTD, a company incorporated in England and Wales, company number 17456702. Registered office: 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. Contact: help@opticmerge.com.
GFL ENTERPRISE LTD is responsible for the personal information it processes for its retail business. You can contact help@opticmerge.com about privacy questions or rights requests. Please use “Privacy request” in the subject line.
2. Information we use
- Contact and delivery information: your name, email address, telephone number where provided, billing address and shipping address.
- Order information: products and options selected, amounts, payment status, transaction references, delivery updates, returns and refunds.
- Service communications: messages you send us and information needed to resolve your request.
- Account and preference information: account details, email preferences and consent choices where the relevant features are used.
- Technical information: device and browser details, network identifiers, security events and information needed to provide the website. Optional analytics or advertising technologies are subject to applicable consent choices.
Payment details are processed through the payment services offered at checkout. We do not ask you to email complete card numbers, card security codes, passwords or identity documents to purchase ordinary eyewear. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed to resolve your request.
3. Why we use it and our legal bases
- To fulfil your order: taking payment, preparing goods, arranging delivery and providing order support. The usual basis is performing our contract with you or taking steps at your request before a contract.
- To meet legal obligations: keeping necessary accounting records, responding to lawful requests and handling consumer rights.
- To operate a secure business: preventing fraud, investigating disputes, maintaining our systems and resolving complaints. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the effect on your rights and freedoms.
- To send optional marketing: where you have given valid consent or another applicable permission is available. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To use optional cookies and similar technologies: in accordance with the consent requirements that apply to your visit.
We do not use product selection information to diagnose conditions or provide personalised clinical advice.
4. Who receives information
We share information only as needed with services that support our store: Shopify as our ecommerce platform, payment providers, fulfilment and delivery partners, customer support services, professional advisers and competent authorities where required. These organisations may act as processors or as independently responsible organisations for some of their services. We do not publish customer order details or sell a mailing list to unrelated retailers.
Shopify and payment providers have their own privacy information for activities they undertake for their own purposes. See Shopify’s privacy information. External sites you choose to visit, including tracking providers, apply their own notices.
5. International processing
Our platform, support and fulfilment providers may process information in countries outside the United Kingdom or your place of residence. Where UK data protection rules require safeguards for an international transfer, we use an applicable mechanism such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your request.
6. How long we keep it
We keep information for the purposes explained here and for applicable legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. Order and transaction records may be retained for up to six years after the relevant financial period where needed for those requirements. Enquiries are retained only for a reasonable period needed to handle the issue and any related complaint. Marketing preferences are kept while relevant, and a minimal suppression record may be retained to respect an unsubscribe request. Optional cookie lifetimes depend on the technology and your choices.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on the applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, and object to certain processing. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions. We may ask for proportionate information to verify the requester; we will not ask for more than is reasonably necessary.
Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or contact us to stop marketing. Essential order and service messages may still be sent. To change optional tracking choices, use the cookie preferences control where available or contact us for help.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures for the information we handle, including access controls and use of our ecommerce platform’s security features. No online service can promise absolute security. Contact us if you believe information relating to your order has been misused.
9. Children
Our checkout and marketing subscriptions are intended for adults capable of entering into a purchase contract. An adult should place orders for children’s products. We do not intentionally collect children’s information for direct marketing.
10. Complaints and changes
Please contact us first so we can investigate a concern. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or your local supervisory authority where applicable. We update this notice when our practices change and show the revision date above. Material changes will be communicated where required.
